Kawerau Woodfest is the premier event in New Zealand for all things wood.
The National Woodskills Competition attracts the best woodwork artists the country has to offer, with amazing pieces of wood related art on display.
Prideaux Park in the centre of Kawerau hosts the KFL logging competition and there is also the BIG DIG which is an entertaining wood chip shoveling competition.
You can also catch the Rotorua woodchoppers in action and chainsaw carving is an absolute must.

Held biennially, the Tauranga Garden and Artfest showcases the region's finest gardens and artists from private courtyards through to sprawling estates. The event has been growing steadily and now brings in thousands from outside the region who flock to the beautiful gardens located all around the Bay of Plenty.The 2009 event was heralded as a great success by organisers, visitors and sponsors.Over 80 of the region’s most beautiful gardens were open to the estimated 8,000 visitors over a four day period.
The gardens provided a unique backdrop for the largest display of local artists with venues from small urban courtyards to rambling country estates.

The Tauranga Moana Seafood Festival is back again this year on the 27th of November with organisers working on an entertainment package for the entire family. This year the event will start at midday and run through to only 8pm. Festival patrons can look forward to cooking demonstrations, fish filleting and mussel opening competitions, music entertainment, kapahaka plus more. The childrens programme consists of the Finals of the Talent Quest where heats will be run two weeks prior, harbour cruises, bouncy slide, treasure hunt and the BIG sandcastle competition, with more activities in the making.
The Port of Tauranga Half event takes place starting at the Salisbury Wharf Carpark in Mount Maunganui. New Zealand’s premiere half iron man event makes use of one of the country’s best multi-sport event venues.
This prestigious event attracts the top New Zealand and overseas specialists and is a marvelous spectator sport.
